Self-Portraits
(& About Me)

PROJECT TYPE: Illustration

THE IDEA

There are a number of self-portraits from my UNLV Advanced Illustrator class that I’m super proud of. I figured it would make sense to include them on this About Me page.

From top-left, clockwise:

  • Grand Theft Auto (GTA) Style
  • Freeform Gradient
  • Reference Photo (Feels like I’m about to get jumped by Michael Meyers!)
  • Gradient Mesh

How Ya Doin'?...

My name is BJ Ordoña, a graphic designer originally from New York, now in Las Vegas. Right out of the gate, I’m going to address the proverbial elephant in the room – I’m new to the design game. I’ve been a software engineer for over 20 years, but graphic design was something I’ve always wanted to get into. My artsy side demanded it. I got myself formally educated, completing UNLV’s Certificate in Print Design continuing education program. Hence, most of my portfolio pieces are projects from coursework. Instead of wasting your time and plastering everything to see what sticks, I curated only my best work, stepping down from that proverbial elephant and putting that proverbial best foot forward.

The types of projects I gravitate towards are brand identity, comic-style illustration, and UX/UI. I seem to enjoy these three the most.

The phrase Stunning Magical Design comes from the fact that I’m also a magician. Fun, whimsical, yet sharp and bold: Like a master wizard, I stir these in the caldron to conjure up design that will help you bewitch and enchant your audiences. This is the vibe I bring to my work, and I look forward to working with clients with the same energy and imagination.

Please be good to each other – peace!

By the way...

My skillz as a magician and software engineer are also for hire. (And that’s skillz with a ‘z’!)
